Planning a wedding takes months of decisions, and one of the earliest ones carries the most weight: the venue. At Portobello Banquets, we've been hosting weddings in Bergen County since 1992, and we know exactly what couples need when they walk through our doors. This isn't a quick tour followed by a sales pitch. It's a conversation, and the details we share here are the same ones that help real couples make confident decisions.
What Couples Actually Need to Know Before Booking
Thirty-plus years of Bergen County weddings have shown us the questions every couple asks. Room size, what's included, how the evening flows, and what needs to be handled separately. This section answers all of them.
A Boutique Setting That Keeps the Focus on Your Celebration
We host one wedding at a time. That's intentional. Our boutique banquet hall at 155 Ramapo Valley Road accommodates weddings from 70 to 225 guests, and because your event is the only one on our floor, you get the full attention of our staff from the moment your cocktail hour begins to the last course of dinner.

The Dome Room is our most requested space. It has been a centerpiece of Bergen County weddings for decades and remains the heart of our hall. For larger parties, the Dome and Annex combined accommodate 120 to 250 guests, giving you room to grow without losing the warmth of a more intimate evening.
The Package Includes More Than You Might Expect
We build our wedding packages to reduce the number of decisions you have to make outside these walls. The five-hour premium open bar travels through your entire reception, so guests are never waiting. Your cocktail hour opens with a champagne reception garnished with seasonal berries. From there, guests move through the Tavolo Toscano station, a pasta station, a brick oven pizza station, a sushi station, and a fresh fruit display, with six butlered hors d'oeuvres of your choosing passed throughout.

Dinner follows with three entrees, a salad, a pasta course, and a carving station with your choice of two cuts. Your table settings include floor-length ivory tablecloths with matching napkins, and wedding packages come with ivory Majestic overlays included. The gold Chiavari chairs with white seats are a detail guests consistently notice. Your tiered wedding cake, served alongside a full Viennese table, closes the evening.
The Food Is the Reason People Come Back
Fine Italian and modern American cuisine define what we serve. Dinner entree selections run deep: chargrilled filet mignon, veal chop Valdostano stuffed with sundried tomatoes, artichoke hearts, prosciutto, and fontina cheese, Chilean sea bass, horseradish crusted salmon, and stuffed chicken breast with apples and almonds in a wild mushroom sauce.
Pasta preparations include more than a dozen sauce options from classic marinara to Marechiara, a seafood blend. The same attention to customization extends to your wedding cake.
Your Wedding Cake Comes with a Dedicated Specialist
The tiered wedding cake included in your package is coordinated through Palermo's Bakery, our trusted partner for wedding cakes. To schedule a tasting and discuss your design, contact Palermo's directly at 201-641-1654 or info@palermobakery.com.
When you call, provide the venue name, your name, your function date, and the cake style you have in mind. Fondant finish is available for an additional charge. For other cake customization options, discuss your preferences directly with a Palermo's Cake Specialist.
Planning the Logistics Early Saves Stress Later
Menu and linen selections are due one month before your wedding date. Final payment by certified bank check, along with your confirmed guest count and floor plan, is due one week prior. Your florist or decorator may come in on the day of the event for setup, though decorating services are not provided by Portobello directly. DJs, photographers, and videographers receive meals at a reduced rate and are generally seated separately from the dining room.
Any vendor working your event must provide a certificate of insurance. A preferred vendors list covering DJ services, photography, videography, floral design, valet, limousine, officiant, and hotel accommodations with special rates is available on our vendors page.
Conclusion
Portobello Banquets has been part of Bergen County weddings for more than 30 years, and that experience shows in every detail, from the gold Chiavari chairs to the last bite of the Viennese table. One wedding at a time means your evening gets our full attention, start to finish.
